The final archaeological experiment for the Clachtoll Broch project will be held on the 24th and 25th September.

The aim is to try and assess how the experimental flooring created in July responds to being burnt down and to assess whether replica pots stored on that burning floor fall, shatter and scatter in a similar way to that indicated by the scatter of pottery fragments discovered in the 2017 excavation.

It will probably take place in the quarry/borrow pit opposite the end of the lane down to Clashmore from the road out to the Lighthouse as did the July experiments.

More detail will be on the Historic Assynt Facebook page and the Clachtoll Broch website nearer the time.
