Marine Protected Area confirmed for Wester Ross

Those of us with an interest in the marine environment are delighted today to have news that the Scottish Government has confirmed a suite of 29 MPAs around the country, including one which stretches from Poolewe to the Summer Isles. Details of restrictions on fishing with mobile gear (ie trawling) in these areas will be worked out over the next two years.  For the moment it is good to know that these very special areas of our seas will now have long-term protection against unsustainable levels of fishing.
