Well there’s definitely a change in the season now, as we head into autumn.  The colours are changing on the hill ground and at night the tawny owls are living it up!

Last Sunday a group of 35 would-be bird surveyors crammed into Elphin hall for a day’s free instruction on bird survey techniques from the British Trust for Ornithology. They are now ready to start important work recording upland birds, which may be threatened by climate change or other factors.

CALL’s first Newsletter has been produced by Romany and describes recent highlights and activities planned for the next few months.  Look out too for posters advertising Autumn Events.  Both of these are available by email from rgarnett@coigach-assynt.org

First up is a celebratory afternoon at the tree nursery on Friday September 27th: music, cake and a chance to see how things are going at the nursery.  Feel welcome to come along!  And another date for your diary is the amazing 2020vision theatre show – in Lochinver on 7th November, Achiltibuie on 8th and Ullapool on 9th. It will be a really inspiring event, even if you are not particularly ‘into’ wildlife, and is presented by two of Britain’s top photogaphers: Pete Cairns and Mark Hamblin (one of his pics is below).  Look forward to seeing you there.
